Setting up proxies for ad verification
Ad verification confirms that an ad shows where and how it was bought to show. That means looking at it from the audience's position.
What you are checking
Verification covers placement, creative, targeting and landing page, from the country, city and network the campaign targets.
Which line
Static ISP addresses with a chosen country, region, city and carrier let a check arrive like a local visitor, and repeat from the same place for comparison over time. Datacenter addresses are cheaper but are recognisable as server ranges, which some ad systems treat differently.
A basic setup
Work through the steps in order.
- List the markets and carriers the campaign targets.
- Order one static IP per market, with the carrier named where you need it.
- Open the page in a clean browser profile through each address.
- Record the address, the time and a screenshot with each finding.
Limits
An address is only as local as the geolocation database a platform reads. If results disagree with expectations, test the address against more than one database before you suspect the ad.
